"Phillip Island: I was entering one of my favourite tracks. There was a lot of mud outside and everyone was well prepared with boots and warm winter jackets, lucky them – I just had my everyday shoes, a light top and a (red) waterproof jacket. The two interviews, one on video and one for the Gpone.com website went by quickly but I started to feel the consequences of the chilly weather… first one cough, then another, then yet another… then they were non-stop and I had bronchitis…. My temperature quickly rose to 39 degrees according to the thermometer. But if the guerrillas in Pakistan hadn’t stopped me, how could a bout of bronchitis?
MotoGP. Race. Tarmac. Burnt rubber. All this is Phillip Island… and this is Australia… a spotlessly clean country, whose people are happy. Its easy-going, stress-free people are extremely polite and always smiling, the ocean’s nearby. We were in Australia! We didn’t see the sun but everything else was top notch… and so was flying through this wonderland towards Canberra for a quick stop and to meet the Club who had organised an event for us in Sydney.
What a sight, together with seven or eight fellow Ducatistas we rode along another incredibly beautiful road… thrilling corners, excellent tarmac and this time a bit of rain too but it didn’t affect us at all… we were mid-flight and the weather didn’t matter… we were with our brothers and there was a big grin under our visor.”
